As the season approaches its final stretch, Bayern Munich still has the DFB-Pokal final against VfB Stuttgart in Berlin to contest. The club has already confirmed the departures of Leon Goretzka and Raphaël Guerreiro after this campaign, and further sales are expected to generate funds for reinvestment. Bayern also offloaded Sacha Boey back to Galatasaray during the winter window, further thinning a defensive unit that has dealt with significant injuries to Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, Josip Stanišić, as well as shorter spells for Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae.

Feyenoord’s young right-back Givairo Read has long been on Bayern’s radar, but talks have stalled because the Dutch club demands at least €30 million for the 18-year-old. Bayern is reluctant to meet that price tag, and Feyenoord is aware that other European clubs may be willing to pay more for a player with considerable potential whose contract runs until June 2029.

After Feyenoord’s 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie, Read spoke openly about his future with only one league game left. He acknowledged the possibility of a summer move but remains undecided. “It is no longer a secret that clubs are watching me and that a move might be coming up in the summer. I don’t want to keep that a secret either. But I haven’t made a choice yet, so I’m still under contract with Feyenoord. It could very well have been my last home match, but I don’t want to say that too soon,” he told ESPN NL.

Bayern’s interest could still intensify given their defensive injury woes this season. Vincent Kompany has deployed Tom Bischof at left back on several occasions and relied on Konrad Laimer to cover both full-back spots when needed. However, Bayern’s current priority targets appear to be Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon and Hertha Berlin’s Kennet Eichhorn.
