The Kansas City Chiefs parted ways with veteran running back Isiah Pacheco in the 2026 offseason as they shifted their ground-game strategy, signing Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III in free agency.
Pacheco saw a sharp decline in usage and production last season, but the 27-year-old rusher might see a turnaround in 2026 after signing a free-agent deal with the Detroit Lions.
Scheduled to work behind Jahmyr Gibbs in the Lions’ backfield, Pacheco was seen running drills alongside his new teammates for the first time in a video posted to the Lions’ official Twitter account.
It remains unclear whether Detroit’s coaching staff will give Pacheco a significant share of carries in the team’s revamped rushing attack. However, given his Super Bowl experience and proven efficiency, the former Rutgers Scarlet Knight should fit seamlessly into Dan Campbell’s physical offensive scheme.
